Hello and welcome to O Pismeneh, a Web page dedicated to my native country of Bulgaria. With its help, I would like to make it easier for people from all around the world to learn more about Bulgaria. In my opinion, it is an amazing country, populated by an even more amazing nation.
Whereas the United States was created 220 years ago, the foundations of Bulgaria were established more than thirteen centuries ago in 681 AD. It is one of the most ancient European states, as it was the second country to appear in Europe after the collapse of the Roman Empire and the establishment of the Frankish Empire. Bulgaria is also the most ancient Slavic state, and as such it was the first among all Slavic countries to accept Christianity and to adopt the Cyrillic alphabet.
The thirteen centuries of Bulgarian development contributed to both a rich history and a flourishing culture. It is my goal to make this page a source of information about Bulgarian culture and history, and I hope that it will be beneficial to everybody on the Net. Enjoy your stay!
